My name is Mark Robinson, Also known as HungryBoy. I acquired the Hungryboy name on a canoe journey in 2004. The Squamish word for white guy is Xwalatun, which I've been told translates as Hungry Ones. So being the only white guy on the canoe journey I became known as the Hungry One or HungryBoy. It was through this canoe journey and others like it that I was exposed to Coast Salish Culture and language. My first true introduction came from volunteering with the Squamish Nation's Uts'am/Witness Wilderness Project from 2001-2006. It was over this time that I developed a lasting relationship with people from various aboriginal
backgrounds. The creation of Indigenous Language Cartoons came about through these relationships. I do these animations in my spare time at home on my Mac in collaboration with friends who are language speakers and artists. The goal is to help preserve and teach languages through social networks such as (YouTube) that are easily accessible to students of various indigenous language groups.
